What should I bring?

You should wear the proper attire depending on the class type. Please bring a water bottle, towel, and the recommended attire per class:

  • Gi jiu-jitsu classes: wear a gi/kimono with a belt. No specific color required, and gis of different designs and from other academies are allowed.
  • No gi jiu-jitsu classes: wear a rash guard, athletic shorts, and/or tights.
  • Self-defense: wear comfortable athletic clothing such as sports tops, biker shorts, and leggings.

If you don't have your own gi, a rash guard and comfortable shorts would be ideal.

What’s the difference between Gi and No Gi?

The main difference between gi and no-gi training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the attire worn during practice. Gi training involves wearing a traditional martial arts uniform called a gi, which includes a jacket and pants tied with a belt. This attire allows practitioners to utilize grips on their opponent's gi for various techniques. No-gi training, on the other hand, involves wearing rash guards and grappling shorts, eliminating the use of the gi for grips. Both styles offer unique challenges and benefits, and many practitioners choose to train in both to develop a well-rounded skill set.

What should I expect in my first class?
